This past week/weekend

We've decided to try making new cabinet faces for our existing vanities, since 1) nobody wanted to buy them from us, and 2) it'll be a LOT less expensive that way. So, last week, Jessica worked on a 'mock up' of a drawer front to see if it was possible. We were excited about the way it turned out and decided to go with it. This weekend consisted of David figuring out how to bore holes into cabinet doors in order for the hinges to fit correctly (not an easy task!) and Jessica worked on putting together more fronts. Without further ado....the photos:

Hmmmm....these cabinets need doors and drawer faces! How will we accomplish this?

David's bored holes and markings for more. We made jokes all weekend about how he needs to be more interesting and stop with the boring.

Here is the wood, all cut and ready to be fixed up! You can see the original drawer faces in this pic, also. The plain white with little finger holds are not appealing!

Ready to be glued and painted!

Jessica's finished mock up - it's painted white, but you can't really tell in this pic.

More work done!!

Ladies and gentlemen, we've made more progress on the bathroom! We're a *little* disappointed that there haven't been many comments...... :-) Here is a play-by-play of more progress:

David started cutting into the shower/tub unit

Pulling some of it away...

After realizing that the shower went up and behind the wall, he had to cut into the wall around the unit. It made it much easier!
Even more gone
Remnants

We made a trip to the dump yesterday with the shower junk.

Jessica had the fun of scraping the mirror glue off the walls

David got to climb up into the skylight, to recaulk the window and start to paint

Demolition (finally)!

We've decided to not do our original remodel idea of the bathroom due to cost of plumbers, and the level of difficulty of figuring out permits, etc. if we were to do it ourselves. So, we're going to still remodel the bathroom, but not as drastically as originally planned. Yesterday, we started demo - enjoy the photos!

Taking apart the shower doors

Taping up one of the two mirrors prior to removal

Jessica, after successful removal of said mirror

The other mirror was also successfully taken from the wall. Eww, glue stuff.

Now Jessica is emptying the pipes of water, and disconnecting the sink from the wall.

Hey, where'd our vanity go??

David hunkered down over the toilet.....to remove it.

Awkwardly taking the toilet out of the bathroom.

Using the dremel to remove a stubborn, unreachable screw. Look at those sparks fly!

Ummm....David, I think you're missing something....

Our almost-gutted bathroom - all that remains is the shower/tub unit.
